Current World Ranking: 26th

Why have you chosen to compete in Red Bull Crashed Ice?
I have been lucky enough to compete in Quebec for the last five years, since the race came to Canadian soil, and it’s become a part of my life. Honestly, if you had the opportunity to compete, wouldn’t you? It is the most exhilarating sport I’ve ever competed in. Anything that involves speed and danger is my idea of fun!

Which skill do you most need to be successful?
Most who compete in this event can all skate well and have great balance. What separates the field of competitors is the ability to commit yourself to travelling over 60kph on skates going downhill so no fear is a huge part of being a RBCI athlete.

How will you be preparing for this year’s World Championship?
I know how tiring RBCI can be, and there are no proficient ways to really prepare, unless you build a track in your backyard like Christian Papillon did a few years back. The only thing you can do is be in shape. Hopefully I’ll achieve this through consistent training; leg exercises, plyometrics, running to increase stamina, and hill training.

Which event are you most looking forward to and why?
Well, I’ve never travelled overseas before and I’m just excited to go to any event overseas. Munich is an amazing city that has a rich historical background and I can’t wait to be able to compete in January there. But still the Canadian track, in Quebec, is in my opinion the fastest and most difficult and I’m always so excited to go back year after year. The Quebec event is the final stage of the World Championship and should be the most exciting because the new Red Bull Crashed Ice World Champion will be crowned after the Quebec race is over.

Is there anyone you would particularly like to beat?
There is no one in particular, preferably everyone.

What is your favourite sport and why?
Hockey, for obvious reasons. It's fast, physical, and Canadian.

Who is your sporting idol?
Growing up I always idolised the Russian Rocket number 10 Pavel Bure for his speed, agility and ability to drive hard to the net and embarrass goalies throughout his entire career. I wore number 10 my entire hockey career to honour the Vancouver Canuck veteran.
